Session 1
Understanding and Finding Resolution of Intergenerational Conflicts
Dr. Mijin Park, Q&A time with Dr. Esther Park and June Chay, AMFT
As young adults entering into graduate studies, marriages, or even parenthood, we still can experience conflicts with our aging Asian parents. Even though we’ve already become grown adults, why do our parents view us as children still needing their direct instruction? Why do we still feel uncomfortable and distant from them even though we’re a Christian family? Is it possible to improve, even repair, a relationship struggle with the generation who birthed and raised us? How does our relationship with Christ help resolve this unique conflict?

All Alone in a Crowd
Pastor Stephan Brown
Loneliness is not new, but it is rampant and increasing. Technology has given us faster and easier access to more people, yet loneliness has increased. In this workshop, we will look at some of the biblical foundations for the value of deeper relationships, obstacles to deeply connecting with others, and poor substitutes that can prevent us from making those connections. We will also explore (and practice) some practical first steps to making those meaningful interpersonal connections. Hopefully you will leave this workshop with a little bit of increased confidence, inspiration in the value of close friendships, and some first steps toward a lifetime of being lonely-less.

Be What You Are
Jason Nguyen
The personal sanctification of a Christian is preceded by our own personal justification in Jesus Christ. In Paul’s letter to the church in Rome, he stresses the importance of one’s justification, as well as the result of it in our sanctification. We will look at the relationship between being justified before God and how sanctification is still an ongoing work of the Spirit living in us as we ourselves are called to press onward by faith in Jesus Christ. We will also examine what Paul is writing when he refers to the flesh and how that impacts our modern day thinking of personal sanctification.

Session 2
Love Addiction and Jesus
Rika Lopez, LMFT, Q&A time with Dr. Esther, and Dr. Mijin
In this workshop, we will spend time looking at the signs and symptoms of Love Addiction and how to recognize unhealthy patterns we have with ourselves and with others. In this “endless scrolling culture” we live in, it’s easy to lose ourselves and become addicted to people or ideas that end up making us feel empty and in despair. Let’s look at these patterns of behavior and find ways to break this cycle. Jesus desires not only your spiritual health but also your mental and emotional well being. Let’s unpack this together in our Love Addiction workshop!

TAKE HEART:
Being with Jesus and Others in Seasons of Grief and Difficulty
Amanda Tran
Jesus says, “I will be with you always.” Many of us understand this theoretically, but in times of trial and deep sorrow, the presence and comfort of Jesus and friends can feel distant, even unwelcome. Scripture has a lot to share about how Jesus meets us in our lowest moments, and how we in turn, can minister to others in their seasons of difficulty. Whether you have experienced loss or a hard life transition, or want to learn ways to comfort a friend who has, or wish to prepare your future self to enter such a season, this workshop is for you. All ages welcome. Disclaimer: this is not a mental health workshop.
